This
volume includes papers which refer to two main areas of investigation, both of
them contributing in their own special ways to elucidate the textbound varieties
of English discourse, original and in translation. The first area combines
articles which endeavour to view the text or discourse in relation to one or
more aspects of English culture, linguistics, literature and translation. The
second part of the volume is concerned with several varieties of
English.
